Fermenting Ideas Pub Talk – David Lewis

Join us for a virtual edition of our Fermenting Ideas pub talk with David Lewis to explore the Indigenous connection to the watershed. This talk will span millennia, first exploring the formation of the valley through both Missoula floods, Kalapuyan stewardship, and the effects that the removal of the Kalapuya’s stewardship have had on modern forest stewardship.

David Lewis, is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, a descendant of the Santiam, Takelma, and Chinook people of Oregon. He has a PhD from the UO and teaches at OSU. He is a researcher, presenter, and writer of many histories of the tribes of the region, and many essays are collected on his blogsiteĀ ndnhistoryresearch.com. David lives in Salem with his wife Donna and sons Saghaley and Inatye.
