Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council Science Pub

March 22, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

On March 27th, the Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council (CFWWC) welcomes Jenny Laxton, Mt. Pisgah Arboretum Education Manager, for our March 2018 Science Pub presentation entitled Slimy Creatures. This presentation will explore slugs, snails, worms and more! They might be a bit goopy, sometimes drippy and high on your personal yuck factor scale, but these underappreciated little critters are more fascinating than you’ve ever imagined. Break out your inner kid and examine our local slime creators with fresh eyes. Lions, tigers and bears have nothing on the weird and wacky world of these charismatic critters.

Jenny Laxton has been teaching kids and adults about the outdoors for 15 years. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon and currently works as the Education Manager at Mount Pisgah Arboretum. She grew up in Oregon and enjoys helping people forge a greater connection to their small part of the world. She agrees with her 2 and 4-year old that the gross things in life are the most fun.

The CFWWC hosts a family-friendly monthly public meeting series called the Coast Fork Science Pub on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 5-7pm at the Axe & Fiddle, 657 E. Main Street in Cottage Grove. The event begins with informal socializing, trivia, and updates about the watershed and watershed council during the first hour. The Science Pub presentation begins at 6pm. CFWWC receives 10% of all sales from the evening between 5-7:30pm. The event is free to the public, with a $5 donation suggested.
