DESCRIPTION:OSU Exentions Tree School is a one-day mini-college for family forestland owners\, foresters\, loggers\, arborists\, teachers\, forest recreators\, and the general citizens of Oregon. Classes topics range from vegetation management\, planting\, forest management\, insects and diseases of conifers and hardwoods\, thinning\, small scale logging\, wildfire\, hydrogeology and water regulations\, soils\, forest protection rules\, tree identification\, Christmas tree management\, certification and sustainability\, cutting timber\, non-timber forest products\, pollinators\, and Native American Stewardship. \nIncluded are morning coffee and refreshments\, lunch\, morning and afternoon break refreshments\, and vendor tables. This program is sponsored by Oregon State University Extension Service\, Lane County Small Woodlands Association\, and Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI). \nRegistration Information: \n* $60 per person if registered by 5:00 pm\, Friday\, May 4\, 2018. \n* Fees will increase to $80 per person May 5 to May 18\, 2018. \n* Registration Deadline: Friday\, May18\, 2018. SUMMARY:Discover Your Watershed: Thurston Hills Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council and Willamalane Park and Recreation District for a day out on the trails learning about Thurston Hills and why it was ripe for restoration. Project managers from both Willamalane and the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council will lead the tour stopping along the way to highlight important elements. \nWe will be hiking about 6 miles round trip. The first three miles are on an a steady incline\, please be aware that this tour will require some strenuous activity. Please be sure to bring water\, wear sturdy close toed shoes\, and walking sticks as the trail is uneven at some spots. If you have any questions about the hike and what you might experience please contact gale@middleforkwillamette.org. \nBring a bag lunch and your questions as we will be stopping at the top to take in the views and learn about the oak habitat restoration happening there. \nThis tour will be limited to 20 people\, so register early to save a spot! Registration can be found here. \nThis event is free and open to the public but a suggested donation of $20 will help us to continue offering programs such as this one. \n
