Elijah Bristow Home River Bioblitz

In partnership with the Willamette National Forest: Middle Fork Ranger District, we are co-hosting The Elijah Bristow Home River Bioblitz from Friday, September 23rd  to Saturday, September 24th . This event is part of a world-wide initiative to support community science and encourage folks to get to know the outdoor spaces around them. Come join us for any length of time during the scheduled weekend events! Participants are welcome to explore the area on a self-guided hike or join a group of volunteer scientists and community members. This event is open to all interested naturalist, no matter the skill level!


Friday 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Events include an evening bat walk and a mothing sheet.


  • 9 am – 9:30 am: Welcome talk and an overview of the iNaturalist App
  • 9:30 am – 10:15 am: Bird hike
  • 10:15 am – 11 am: River walk with macroinvertebrate sampling and identification
  • 11 am – 11:45 am: Tree and plant exploration
  • 11:45 am – 12:30 pm: Mushroom hunt
  • 12:30 pm – 1 pm: Close-out


Records collected by participants will contribute to the world-wide Home River Bioblitz data set and it will support our on-going restoration and monitoring projects at Elijah Bristow State Park. Species may include plants, animals, insects, birds, and fungi! Participants are encourage to upload observations to the Elijah Bristow iNaturalist page.
